Our Robotics team went to kick off at Grove City this past Saturday (Sept. 2), and we are already hard at work. This year's theme is Crossfire, and our robot will have to save "Manny," put out the fire, and move chemical cans. We also are happy to announce that our CEO this year is Grace St. Clair! Check out the chart to see all the positions.
We hope you are excited as we are that Robotics is starting again! Our Spaghetti dinner was yesterday, and we're SO grateful for all the people who came and supported our team! Because of you, we raised $3,000 in ONE night!!! now we are only $5,000 away from Fargo! However, we need all the money by this Monday, November 21st. :( Please pray for us! we need all the prayer we can get right now.
You can also share our page on Facebook and twitter, and donate to our cause on our gofundme page. :) thank you all so much for all the support you've given so far! we are praying desperately for a miracle right now-if we don't get all the money by Monday, we don't get to go to regionals. please pray with us and tell your friends, family and co-workers to pray also! We appreciate everything you all have done for us. None of this would ever be possible without you. Thank you :) and God bless. https://www.facebook.com/Christian-Life-Academy-Robotics-149399602181864/ Our team went to Grove City College and competed against 18 other teams. In the BEST award (the award that includes everything, robot, marketing, notebook, and the top 7 go to regionals in Fargo North Dakota) We placed 7th! That qualifies us to move on to Fargo!!! Our team is super excited, and we have been working hard to raise $20,000 to be able to transport our team there. If we don't raise enough money, we will not be able to go and compete.
You can help us reach our goal by donating! An easy way to do this is at our "go fund me" page at www.gofundme.com/cla-robotics-fargo-bound?ssid=794130587&pos=1 If you can't give any money, please share us on Facebook or twitter-we appreciate any and all support and prayers! Thank you - Eagle Harvesting Incorporated Well, Mall Day is coming up fast! This Saturday we will be at Ross Park Mall in Pittsburgh to practice on the official game course before Game Day. We will also be able to see the other teams' robots, and get a chance to meet and talk with our competitors. Back at the school, we have designed a Mall Day T-shirts that we can use every year. The whole team is exited! The notebook is also underway, and we have a team working on finalizing it. We have also begun the decoration of the booth, since the structure is built. On top of all that, we now have a MOVING ROBOT!!! Our engineers have started constructing the arm, and programing more motors. All in all, I'd say we've had a lot of progress so far. ;) Mall Day Shirts
Every year, our robotics team competes in BEST (Boosting Engineering Science and Technology) robotics competition. The competition and the kick off are held at Grove City College. The competition has a theme, that's different every year. This year's theme in farming, and titled "Bet the Farm".
The robot has to navigate a course that fallows the farming theme. On Game Day (competition), our robot participates in multiple rounds, and scores points by completing different, farm related, tasks. The Engineers have to design and build a robot to accomplish as many tasks as possible in a three-minute time frame, as efficiently as possible. The difference between BEST robotics and other robotics competitions is that with BEST, you have to not only build a robot, but a company as well. Therefore, we have an engineering team, and a marketing team. The job of the marketing team is to raise publicity for our company; raise money to market and travel if we make it to the finals; build the display booth for Game Day; and present to judges, businesses, and local schools. Last year, together we placed sixth overall for the BEST award. So far, our engineers have started designing and building the robot in hopes to have a working robot by Mall Day. (Mall day is a day where all the teams come together in the Ross Park Mall to practice on the full game field, and to get a peek at the other teams' robots.) Our marketers have started to design the booth, and invent the logo and T-shirts. |
